Muscle Memory

Muscle Memory, curated by Copperfield in London, brings together work by Rafal Zajko, Aziza Kadyri, Li Li Ren, Anna Gonzalez Noguchi, Narges Mohammadi and Luana Vitra.

The exhibition looks at the knowledge we take in by watching family members and elders rather than through formal teaching: skills, habits and gestures passed quietly between generations. Drawing on family memories of craft, nature and hardship, and on the chemistry of the body itself, the artists ask what kind of knowledge survives and what might be lost. Li Li Ren presents Nameless II (2025), a suspended sculpture in stainless steel and glass, pierced by an arrow.
